Looking forward to festive fun with Country Living Magazine

In the many years before we came to Pig Row, when I worked the city grind and Little D was but a mere twinkle in his fathers eye, I took solace from real life by reading Country Living magazine. I would wait like a hungry dog for it to appear through our letterbox each month and then I would devour it in a sitting. I'd relax with a pot of tea, dreaming of chickens, acres of land and respite from the hurly-burly of life.

Even now when we are living (and on the whole loving) a quieter rural lifestyle, Andrew still buys me a subscription to the magazine for Mothers Day and I still love it.  Little D loves it too, when he was but two years old he would wake up in the night and read it with us, cover to cover, wedged between Andrew and I in our bed.  He has a little pile of his favourites next to Little Sofa in our sitting room, he especially loves an edition with a feature about stoats which he has called Ermin, Mermin and Squeaky. Each has its own particular voice, which of course only Mummy knows and so is called upon to make them speak on a frequent basis.

Therefore we were very excited to be invited to the Country Living Christmas fair in Harrogate which runs from 28 November - 1 December at the International Centre. We will be seeking out Christmas inspiration and hopefully be coming home with one or two festive gifts.

The fair brings together hundreds of exhibitors offering the very best in quality British craft, food and gifts with lots of treats that cannot be found on the high street, In addition it will offer a range of workshops, and lectures in the Lifestyle Theatres with experts in the field such as Jules Hudson and Cherry Menlove (both 29 November).

Even more excitingly Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair has offered us a pair of tickets for the Harrogate show to give away (see below for competition and, terms and conditions) as well as a special reader discount code offering standard tickets for £9 (normally £10) when you quote CLH133.  You can order your tickets here.

Look out for our follow up feature, where we will share with you the best of the show.

We received press tickets, tickets to give away and a discount code from Country Living Living magazine free of charge. However all opinions and articles are our our own.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED UNFORTUNATELY ALL ENTRIES WERE FOUND TO BE INVALID SO THERE WAS NO WINNER.  THE COMPETITION WAS RERUN ON 19/11/13 ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE.
