You may never have considered growing marrows. You probably have grown courgettes but pumpkins may not even be on your to do list but these versatile veggies are great to have in the garden. You can even grown courgettes in the greenhouse and extend the season. Marrows and pumpkins make for great ground cover and are one of those first crops you should try your hand at on soil that has just been cleared. The leaves will shade out weeds and you can even grow a marrow in the compost bin, which we have done for many a year. All they need is some well rotted muck and feed with liquid comfrey.
